TAO TAO SINGS HEARTWARMING SONG IN HER NATIVE LANGUAGE
Who knew that one day a little girl named Tao Tao in
Atlanta, Georgia, the cute little 5 year old daughter of two Taiwanese
immigrants
to the USA,
YU-PING SHEN and RICHARD PERNG, would become a YouTube sensation in
Taiwan, the land of her grandparents and greatgrandparents, with her
cute rendition of
a song titled THE LO LAT SONG?
But that is exactly what
is happening now! Coached by her mom in Atlanta, TAO TAO has
re-created and re-introduced
an old word in the Taiwanese dialect that means THANK YOU FROM THE
BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
Befiore we go any further with this PR pitch, take a listen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5xKFFxu0gY&feature=email
LO LAT means ThaNK YOU in the Taiwanese dialect, and Taiwanese is
still spoken even now in
southern Taiwan and all over the island.
TAO TAO was asked by an American cultural worker living in Taiwan to
sing his LO LAT song to the tune of ''Twinkle Twinkle
little Star'' as a way to re-introduce the word LO LAT into
modern Taiwanese culture, since the word is hardly used anymore and
it's a pity since it is a very good word to say....it means THANK YOU
FROM THE BOTTOM
of my heart........a deep kind of thank you, ..... although SHIEH
SHIEH is also a good word.....of
course.
ABOUT YU-PING. She was born in Taipei in 1977...... Graduated from
Fu-Jen Catholic University in 1999,....... and she got her MA at
Emerson College in Boston, ...
RICHARD was born in Taipei in 1975 ......and he later moved to
Chicago,in 1979 when he was four years old. When he was 5, his family
moved to Atlanta Georgia, ......Richard graduated with MA degree from
M.I.T. in Boston in 1999, ........and is currently a programmer in ATLANTA
Now about that song. It's making waves around Taiwan, via the
internet, because it's reminding old people of the word that has a
deep meaning for them, and it's introducing LO LAt
to a whole new younger generation of college students and high school
kids and even kindergarden kids. BRAVO, TAO TAO. She has scored a
sweet sweet language touchdown in the
colorful langauge of her ancestors!
BRAVO,....
and LO LAT, TAO TAO..... SHE IS now an internet star!
